Final Fantasy VIII was the first installment to have an actual theme song. The game contains two songs with lyrics, Eyes On Me (Performed by Faye Wong) and Liberi Fatali.

In Final Fantasy VIII Laguna Loire inspired Julia Heartilly to write "Eyes On Me". It made her a star and was her crowning achievement before her fatal car accident.
