Final Fantasy VIII » Limit Breaks

» Squall Leonhart: Renzokuken
Squall's limit break fluctuates based on his equipped weapon. He will always begin with Renzokuken and may end with one of the finishing blows listed below if you have completed enough successful hits.
Renzokuken involves Squall slashing the enemy multiple times while the player mashes the R2 button at various opportune moments.

Rough Divide: Requires Revolver or better
Squall dashes at the opponent, dragging his sword on the ground behind him. As the sparks fly, he violently brings his weapon upward and slashes the enemy.

Fated Circle: Requires Shear Trigger or better
Squall leaps into the air and circles around, releasing sparks of fire at the enemy.

Blasting Zone: Requires Flame Saber or better
Squall points his weapon toward the sky and brings down a massive ray of light upon his enemies.

Lionheart: Requires Lionheart
Squall's weapon forms a ball of energy and he unleashes a flurry of attacks on his opponents. An explosion occurs soon after, dealing the finishing blow.

» Rinoa Heartilly: Combine/ Angel Wing
Rinoa is able to use her dog, Angelo in battle. He learns tricks everytime a new Pet Pals volume is acquired, or when a new trick is selected for him to learn in the status screen.

Angelo Rush: Requires Nothing
Angelo sprints through the enemy.

Angelo Cannon: Requires Nothing
Angelo leaps on Rinoa's arm and is launched toward the enemy.

Angelo Strike: Requires Pet Pals Volume I
Angelo jumps into the air, sommersaults, then lands on the enemy.

Angelo Recover: Requires Pet Pals Volume II
Angelo appears and cures a party member with low HP.

Invincible Moon: Requires Pet Pals Volume III
Rinoa throws a treat into the air and Angelo goes after it and howls over the moon. The party is granted temporary invincibility.

Angelo Reverse: Requires Pet Pals Volume IV
Angelo appears and revives a KOed party member.

Angelo Search: Requires Pet Pals Volume V
Angelo appears and frisks the enemy for valuable items.

Wishing Star: Requires Pet Pals Volume VI
Angelo inflicts non elemental damage on all enemies.

Angel Wing: Requires Disc Three
Angel wings appear behind Rinoa and she floats into the air. During her limit break, Rinoa can cast any spell in her inventory as many times as possible without depleting any magic from her stock. She is unable to be controlled for the duration of the battle and is immune to all status ailments.

» Quistis Trepe: Blue Magic
Quistis learns blue magic from certain items. An item that can be used to teach Quistis a new ability will have the following in it's description: "Quistis can learn..."

Laser Eye: Requires Nothing
Inflicts non-elemental laser damage to one enemy.

Ultra Waves: Requires Spider Web
Inflicts earth-elemental damage to one enemy.

Electrocute: Requires Coral Fragment
Inflicts thunder-elemental damage to all enemies.

Level ? Death: Requires Curse Spike
Casts death on all enemies. Success depends on the experience level multiplier.

Degenerator: Requires Black Hole
Transports an enemy to a different dimension.

Aqua Breath: Requires Water Crystal
Inflicts water-elemental damage to one enemies.

Micro Missiles: Requires Missile
Inflicts gravity-elemental damage to one enemy.

Acid: Requires Mystery Liquid
Inflicts bio damage to one enemy.

Gatling Gun: Requires Running Fire
Inflicts non-elemental damage to all enemies.

Fire Breath: Requires Inferno Fang
Inflicts fire-elemental damage to all enemies.

Bad Breath: Requires Marlboro Tentacle
Inflicts all status ailments to all enemies.

White Wind: Requires Whisper
Restores HP to all party members.

Homing Laser: Requires Laser Cannon
Inflicts non-elemental laser damage to one enemy.

Mighty Guard: Requires Barrier
Casts shell on one party member.

Ray-Bomb: Requires Power Generator
Inflicts massive non-elemental damage to all enemies.

Shockwave Pulsar: Requires Dark Matter
Inflicts massive non-elemental damage to all enemies.

Zell's limit break requires the player to mash a certain sequence of buttons in order for him to complete an attack. Listed are the buttons to push.

My Final Heaven: Requires Combat King 005
Push: Up, Right, Down, Left, Triangle
After performing Punch Rush (or Booya), Heel Drop, and Meteor Strike;OR Punch Rush (or Booya), Heel Drop, Mach Kick, and Punch Rush.

» Selphie Tilmitt: Slots
Selphie's limit break allows her to cast any magic, even rare magic, at random without detracting any magic from her stocked inventory. Listed below are unique spells that are not listed in her stock that she can cast.

Full Cure: Requires Nothing
Completely restores the party's HP and removes all status ailments.

Wall: Requires Nothing
Selphie casts Protect and Wall on the entire party.

Rapture: Requires Nothing
Wings appear behind all enemies and carry them away from the battle field.

The End: Requires Nothing
Selphie unleashes a massive amount of physical energy at the enemy, instantly KOing them. It can also occassionaly defeat bosses.

Irvine gains new abilities from certain ammo the party acquires or refines.

Normal Shot: Requires Ammo
Irvine shoots one enemy, inflicting non-elemental damage.

Scattered Shot: Requires Shotgun Ammo
Irvine shoots all enemies, inflicting non-elemental damage.

Dark Shot: Requires Dark Ammo
Irvine shoots one enemy and inflicts blindness on the opponent.

Fire Shot: Requires Fire Ammo
Irvine shoots all enemies, inflicting fire-elemental damage.

Canister Shot: Requires Demolition Ammo
Irvine shoots one enemy, iflicting non-elemental damage, causes 3 times more damage than Normal Shot.

Quick Shot:Requires Fast Ammo
Irvine shoots one enemy multiple times, inflicting non-elemental damage.

Armor Shot: Requires AP Ammo
Irvine shoots one enemy, causing full damage. Protect and shell spells are nullified.

Hyper Shot: Requires Pulse Ammo
Irvine shoots one enemy, inflicting massive non-elemental damage.
