   A technologically advanced paradise in the sky, Cocoon has prospered as a peaceful city under the Sanctum's rule, free of the infection that thrives in the lowerworld of Pulse. Protected by the benevolent fal'Cie, the inhabitants of Cocoon believed that the peace and tranquility inside of their city would last forever. All was lost with the discovery of one hostile fal'Cie.

   Once the fal'Cie from Pulse were awoken from their slumber they began to infect humans, turning them into magical servants known as I'Cie, servants of the fal'Cie. Branded, the I'Cie must fulfill their focus--tasks assigned by the fal'Cie--or face a fate harsher than death.
